This list of the best Non-MLM essential oil companies is some of the best essential oil companies to buy from! These companies have high standards and meet all the criteria for the purest and best oils!

When I first started using essential oils I never paid attention to quality or anything like that. I didn’t even know what the terms like “therapeutic grade,” or “pure” meant. All I cared about was buying the most affordable essential oils I could find regardless of quality. I learned quickly that the essential oil business what very large and very corrupt.
What are Essential Oils?
Believe it or not, plants have chemicals in them! Most drugs and household products that we have on the market today are actually lab-made chemicals that you can find in a plant! Essential oils are extracts of a plant that is removed by a physical process, such as distillation. The use of essential oils has been around for thousands of years and they are still beneficial today! You can purchase single oils, such as lavender, or you can purchase an essential oil blend that combines multiple different oils.
What are the uses of Essential oils?
Essential oils have many uses, depending on the oil and plant! For example, you can use chamomile oil for calming purposes or lavender oil to help you sleep! You can use them to make your own personal care products, cleaning products, and
What are the “qualifications” I should look for when buying essential oils?
It is very important that you buy high-quality essential oils. If you don’t you are posing a bigger risk to your health. Oils that are not pure can contain harmful chemicals, metals, and toxins, and may not even be the oil that the label claims. The best non-mlm essential oil companies should provide clear and transparent information on the following:
1) Where do the plants come from
You want to make sure the company you are buying from is sourcing its plants from sustainable sources. If the company you are buying from is using mass sourcing, the plants may not be good quality or could be sprayed with harmful chemicals. The suppliers should have sustainable practices to ensure the best quality. This reduces the quality of the oil and can interrupt the health benefits.
2) How does the company extract their oils
If the company you are looking to buy from is chemically extracting its oils, that is an immediate NO! The extracting of the oils should come from methods such as distillation or cold-pressing.
3) Are the oils unadulterated
When you’re buying oils, you want the purest essential oils possible. I can’t express enough how bad contaminated oil is for you. If you are diffusing a bad oil in your home, you are putting loads of harmful chemicals and toxins in your air and you are not reaping any health benefits at all.
4) Are the bottles and labels appropriate?
If the essential oils are in a plastic bottle that’s a big red flag. Don’t buy them. We all know how bad plastics are for our health and the essential oil will cause the plastic to leach into it, making it an impure oil. You want your oils stored in an amber, glass bottle. Labels should have all the information about the oil on them and the label must correctly represent what is in the bottle. You’d be surprised how many studies have been done to show that the bottle isn’t what it says it is. Your label should tell you everything about the oil such as the common name and the botanical name. Avoid oils that say “perfume oil,” “Fragrance oil,” or “essence of.” These are not true essential oils, just chemically made oils.
5)Proper Testing
This is one of the most important things when buying an essential oil. If your essential oil company isn’t doing proper testing, the quality of its oils is more likely compromised. That being said, you don’t want just any testing. Essential oils should go through rigorous testing. Oils should go through gc-ms testing (gas chromatography and mass spectrometry) to make sure there aren’t any chemicals, metals, pesticides, etc in the oil or in the plant. The brand should also be third-party tested. If they claim they do their own testing and are not sending it to a third-party lab, I wouldn’t buy them. It is easy to alter your own test results. Third-party testing ensures un-bias testing and accurate testing results.
Things to avoid
Do not buy essential oils that make outrageous health claims, sold in a grocery store, or don’t do third-party testing. Make sure the essential oil products do not have any extra fragrance or other chemicals. This defeats the purpose of the essential oil
How Can Essential Oils Benefit Me?
Essential oils have many benefits depending on which oil you decide to use. For example, lemon essential oil has antibacterial and disinfectant properties that can be of use in household cleaners. Chamomile and Lavender can be used for anxiety, skin rashes, and sleep.
Many essential oil brands have blends that have specific uses. For example, there are anxiety blends, allergy blends, and immunity blends. Each company may use different oils to create their blends, so it may take a little research to find something that you like.
What is an “mlm”
An MLM is a multi-level marketing company that sells its products through direct business or sales. Their business model is known as a “pyramid” where you have various levels of workers.
Some of the most popular essential oil brands on the market today are MLM companies. You may have heard of young living or DoTerra. These brands boast good quality oils, and the highest quality testing standards, and even claim they are the best essential oils you can buy.
While I’m not opposed to an MLM brand, there are better brands out there. The price point on them is super high. While certain mlm brands boast high-quality standards, they don’t do third-party testing. Regardless if they have a great reputation or not, I wouldn’t trust things that are not third-party tested. There have been many recent controversies with a certain brand that have made me question any company I buy from. In any case, I would watch out for false claims by ANY essential oil company that claims to heal or cure any ailment. I also would be very cautious of dietary supplements, especially if there is no third-party testing
Why buy from a non-MLM company
With that being said, I’m happy we have many different brands of good companies to choose from. The best non-mlm essential oil companies are some of the best essential oil brands on the market. Since they are a smaller business their quality control is better, they are more likely to have pure oils, they will more likely have affordable prices, and their customer service is usually better. The best Non-MLM essential oil companies also are usually small businesses and are more likely to have higher ethical and sustainable practices. MLM oils are also at a higher price point to make up for the “middleman” in the company. Remember, not every oil company is created equally and each company has its own business practices and convictions. The best thing is that you can most likely find one that aligns with yours.
The Best Non-MLM Essential Oil Companies:
This is a list of the best non-mlm essential oil companies that s I have researched on testing, sourcing, and labeling. I have not used essential oils from all these companies and to my knowledge they meet high-quality standards. This is my personal essential oils review and you should do your own research as well! These companies meet all the standards
- Each batch of essential oils has third-party testing results
- They focus on sustainability and quality in their sourcing
- Each company gives back
- The companies are transparent with their products
- The packaging is in amber, glass bottles
Plant Therapy
Plant Therapy third-party tests their essential oils and commits to sustainability, meaning their sourcing isn’t typically from smaller farms. They also provide many educational resources for essential oils. Plant therapy has organic oils, kid-safe options, and very good prices. This is one of my favorite brands to buy from because they have reasonable prices and carry everything I need! Plant Therapy also has an oil of the month club that sells exclusive oils and blends that they don’t sell online!
My favorite oils to buy are:
- The Kidsafe line
- The Germ Fighter Blend
- Organic Lemon
- Organic Copaiba
- Organic Roman Chamomile
- Organic Lavender
- Organic Singles Set
Rowe Casa Organics:
Rowe Casa Organics is a website where I have come to buy all the products that I don’t make from scratch. The company was founded by the owner when she was having a plethora of health issues and couldn’t find non-toxic products. So, in her kitchen, she started making her own products and selling them. They are now a company with over 200 hundred products that ship all over the U.S. Rowe Casa third party tests all of their essential oil blends and is a small company that goes above and beyond to ensure quality in everything they make. Their price point is slightly higher than other brands, but they are very high quality. Their oils have scan codes on them so you can read the purity reports right on your phone. If you have any questions, their customer service is prompt and friendly.
My favorite oils to buy are
- Sleep Blend
- Breathe Blend
- Allergy Blend
- Fruity Blend
Earthley:
I love using Earthley for their herbal remedies, but their essential oils are great as well. They have a limited supply and their essential oils are blends. However, I love their blends and if I’m placing an order for herbal remedies, I usually include an essential oil as well! My favorite blend is the Morning Burst Blend. They also have a scalp and skin essential oil blend that helps with itchy scalp and dandruff!
Eden’s Garden Essential Oils:
Eden’s Garden is a family-owned, faith-based company. They were started in 2009 when the owner wanted to share her love and passion for nature and she got to experience it with her travels. The company has grown worldwide and they source from sustainable farms all over the world, helping out local farmers and communities in the country. They are also one of the most cost-effective essential oil brands that I have found and have a wider variety of essential oils for all needs.
Edens Garden also has a wide variety of sets, which I love because it’s a great way to save a little money! They also have a 5ml, 10ml, or 30ml option for their bottles so if you use a certain oil more frequently, you can buy it in larger bottles! This especially comes in handy for me with oils like lavender, orange, or lemon because I use those frequently in my home!
Other Reputable Brands with third-party testing and sustainable sourcing:
Rocky Mountain Oils
Plant Guru Essential Oils
Simply Earth Essential Oils
GuruNanda Essential Oils
Far and Wild Essential Oils
You should buy these oils directly from their website. I would not go purchase them from Amazon because there have been studies showing that the products that come from Amazon aren’t always what is advertised. Keep in mind that while Amazon may sometimes have the cheaper price for the moment, a non-mlm essential oil company usually has amazing deals, sales, and first-order discounts and bonuses.
While buying from an MLM company isn’t bad, there are many family-owned, independent companies that provide the same quality with much lower prices and much better practices and values. It is important to research the practices and testing of essential oil companies because not having pure essential oils is detrimental to our health. If the oil is not pure, it will cause health issues and have side effects. Remember, the extra cost to buy the best brand of essential oils is worth it to keep you healthy. Many companies offer discounts on your first order, free shipping, rewards programs, and other benefits for being a loyal customer. Your health is worth the investment! Hopefully, you will find the best non-mlm essential oil company for your family!
